The Sunday Post//Bookish Resolutions

sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba@ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a place to share news and recap the previous week, showcase books and things we have received.

We’ve almost reached the first full week of 2019 and I’m really trying to make my bookish resolutions into habits. I love that the beginning of the year always makes me feel refreshed and ready to start over. Here are my bookish resolutions for 2019:

  1. Listen to at least 20 audiobooks. I started listening to audiobooks late last year and finished 2 in December. Previously, I had always given up on any audibooks I started because I could never get into them. But I always felt like I was missing out. I’m going to try to use my audiobook listening time to get to books that I wouldn’t otherwise have time to read.
  2. Read at least 150 books. Last year I read 202 books (including the 2 audiobooks) and it was my best reading year yet. Ultimately I would like to read over 202 books in 2019 but I don’t like to put too much pressure on myself since so much of my reading is based on my mood.
  3. Read more romance novels! I started reading romance novels last year after randomly picking up a Christina Lauren novel and got totally hooked. I want to read more in the genre this year and there are so many great novels coming out this year.
  4. Keep up with my reading journal. I make this resolution every year. Usually by July or August I will realize I haven’t written in my journal for weeks. I always start out really well and committed to it so I’m hoping I can keep it going this year. I keep track of my reading consistently on Goodreads but I would like to have another record of my reading.

Did you make any bookish resolutions this year?

  1. I totally get what you mean with the mood reading. I usually don’t set yearly reading goals or TBR lists for myself because of that. But 150 is totally reachable if you keep up the pace! Happy reading!

  2. Happy New Year. Good luck with your bookish resolutions. I’m mostly really bad in those. But I did set my Goodreads challenge on 100 books this year. Last year I set in on 50, due to my pregnancy and baby girl being born. I managed to read 65 so I hope to be able to get to 100 this year.
Have a great week and happy reading!

  3. I have so many ideas for book-related (and other!) things I want to achieve this year but I need time to sort through them all and work out what I actually want rather than shooting for everything and achieving nothing… Does that make sense?

I wish you luck with your bookish resolutions! Audiobooks are something I really want to master the art of but I’ve been failed at them for years, lol.

  4. Good luck with your goals. I also read over 200 books last year, but put my goal at 156 which is 2 books and 1 audiobook a week. Audiobooks are what let me really increase my number of books this past year. I’ve listened to 3 audiobooks over the last 3 days! while cooking, knitting, running errands, taking my daughter to school, creating blog posts, raking leaves and folding laundry, etc. I just learned to fit my audio into my life, but it took a little practice. I love romance but I’m out of the mood at the moment. I’m in a mystery mood. I love everything I have read by Christina Lauren though. Have a great week! Anne – Books of My Heart
