The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba@ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a place to share news and recap the previous week, showcase books and things we have received.
Huge thank you to Simon & Schuster for the free review copies. As a teen services librarian, I am really grateful for the opportunity to read these review copies.
I got a super exciting box of book mail at my library job last week and I wanted to share the great books I got! I’m so excited to read, review, and then recommend and share these with the teen readers at my library. These books are 2019 releases and you can find out more about them by clicking on the title and going to their Goodreads page.
Here are the recent ARCs I received from Simon & Schuster:
- Slayer by Kiersten White – I know a super special Buffy fan that I will definitely be sharing this ARC with!
- Genesis Begins Again by Alicia D. Williams- I will definitely be reading this one ASAP. It’s an exploration of race, self-esteem, and growing up with a complicated home life.
- Dealing in Dreams by Lilliam Rivera- Eeeep I was so excited to see this in the box because I loved Lilliam’s The Education of Margot Sanchez. It became one of my favorite books when it came out in 2017 and I can’t wait to read more from Lilliam.
- The Cold is in Her Bones by Peternelle van Arsdale- I don’t know much about this book but I will definitely be looking through it and purchasing for the teen collection. I know this ARC will find a great home with a teen book club member.
- Barely Missing Everything by Matt Mendez- I’ve seen this one recommended to fans of Jason Reynolds so it will definitely be on my TBR list. It has three narrators and a super eye catching cover that will make teens pick it up.
- Meena Meets Her Match by Karla Manternach– This is a sweet middle grade novel about a girl dealing with friend trouble and it’s also a Valentine’s day story!
- Best Family Ever by Karen Kingsbury and Tyler Russell- I don’t know anything about this book but read that it’s the childhood stories of the Baxter family featured in other Kingsbury books.
- The Revenge of Magic by James Riley – This is another one that I don’t know much about but I can tell it will be a hit with middle grade fantasy readers at my library.
Which upcoming releases are you excited about?
All these books look amazing and I am so jealous of your haul. Have a good week ahead.
